Confidential CARE Advocate


Denise Caramagno (she/ella) is a licensed psychotherapist with a specialty in trauma. She provides client centered services to uphold the dignity of UCSF affiliated survivors of sexual and gender-based harassment, interpersonal and sexual violence, and stalking. She has supported survivors of violence and harassment for more than 25 years in various SF Bay Area non-profit and government settings. She is committed to empowerment and believes everyone should feel safe to be their authentic selves and to realize their dreams and full potential. In her spare time Denise rides a mountain bike and she was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 2001.

Patricia Barragán is a dedicated advocate with over a decade of experience providing trauma-informed support to survivors of gender-based violence. She has led teams at the San Francisco Victim Services Division, addressing domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child abuse, and sexual assault. A certified domestic violence counselor trained in Dr. Jacqueline Campbell’s Danger Assessment tool, Patricia specializes in designing trauma-informed care programs and delivering professional training that fosters understanding and compassion within the community. Patricia’s holistic and survivor-centered approach empowers individuals with the support and care needed to heal, grow, and promote resiliency. She holds a bachelor’s in political science and criminal justice from San Francisco State University and a master’s in clinical psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University.
